The school uniform keepsake bears for leavers

Bear workshop has been a buzzing place of activity again.We have a special large post box for all our deliveries and our lovely friendly post lady knows us and our distinctive green mailing bags well now! We get really excited opening all the new arrivals and love seeing what special material has been sent to us!

This week was no exception with a selection of uniform and blazers from school we have not as yet made a Blazer Bear for. We also had some lovely material from a favourite outfit to make a keepsake bear for Valentines Day. What really made us go ‘awwww’ was this beautiful baby dress by Chloe with covered buttons and lace detail.

The keepsake bears we have been making having been so varied. The special King Troop replica bear we made before Christmas was a huge hit and was a pleasure to make. The handmade bear was made from replica material but the braiding and badges were all original and given to us by the customer.

Last year we attended a lot more new school events and linked with some wonderful Mums and Dads through a host of Parent Teacher Associations. Through these contacts and as a result of attending the Independent Schools Show, not only have we made lots of school mascots, we will be making lots of wonderful leavers gifts, for classes of children leaving in year 6 and 8. The schools and thinking ahead already and we are at the beginning of the school leavers orders.  We often get contacted by PTA’s or head, of year groups such as 6 and 8, to make a group order for leavers. The keepsake bears made from school uniform are so popular as they can all be designed and personalised by each individual child.

We love getting all the different design requests (we sometimes even get little drawings) for the variety of uniform and selection of special items each child wants added. Whether this be sporting colours, swimming and brownie badges or simply a precious item that signifies a special memory, examples of which have been a button from a much loved cardigan on the paw, a mini certificate in the pocket, a note from a friend and even a comb in the pocket. Each bear is always personalized with the child’s nametag behind the ear and we never realised the options available! We have had so many different name tags, large and small, coloured, ones with pictures on or designed in house colours.

This year we are going to launch a completion to win a school mascot bear. More information to follow but we want to know your best memories from school and what your school uniform keepsake bear would look like. The biggest compliment we get is wonderful feedback we receive regarding the quality of the bears and how they will be treasured keepsakes for years to come. We take so much care and time to make sure each handmade teddy bear can incorporate what each customer has asked for  and although sometimes we work with rather challenging material, such as swimming costumes and very synthetic silky football tops, each keepsake bear is designed to be a true replica of the original clothing.
