One of the areas which is really proving popular our baby clothers keepsake bears which are so special and much loved . No exception was this gorgeous little Chloe dress which we received a few weeks ago. When we took the clothing out of the mailing bag the whole workshop went ‘Awww….’. All our children are now teenagers so we when we get these special first outfits we can’t help but feel a little broody!
As always we wanted to ensure the keepsake bear depicted as close as possible the original little dress. The cotton can be quite challenging due to the pull of the thread against the material. We wanted to include as much of the lace as possible without over doing it.
We were able to cut the pattern and use the front lace and covered buttons as detail as the original dress had. The sweet little Peter Pan collar we used as cuffs. We added pearlised buttons for the eyes and a little white nose completed the keepsake bear. We also can add a nametag if wished or embroider initials behind the ear and a date. Sometime the clothing has pretty silk labels depicting the design which can also stitch to the back of the bear so as much of the original is recycled.
After our wonderful review on Real Mum reviews we have had a lot of orders for keepsake bears made from baby clothes and babygros. We usually ask for 5 items if newborn to ensure there is enough material. We add details such as little logos on the ears or other details that make the clothing individual.
These gorgeous outfits are held so dear but usually find themselves in a storage box and not forgotten but not seen for many years. IWe are very sentimental and kept all our favourite little outfits. This is what first prompted the creation of Blazer Bears! Wanting to keep special clothing but in the form of a tangible keepsake. What our customers love is the fact that a baby clothes keepsake bears are not only is a wonderful way of keeping memories alive but that the final Blazer Bear feels and looks like the original items.
This week we have just received a favourite coat of a slightly older child. It is a very pretty wool check with large buttons on the front. We are really looking forward to making it and although there is not other material to add, we will add as much detail as possible.
Friends since their first children were born, Pru and Kathy are two mums whose children are now at secondary school.
