Jumper keepsakes have ironically been very popular this month! We have had a few snow days at the workshop this month due to the ‘Beast from the East’ and then the ‘Mini Beast’ which arrived this weekend. As Kent woke to a winter wonderland we suffered a frozen pipe and our local train station was closed. However we have loved the cosy fires and luckily no milk shortages… need our cups of tea! The workshop was closed for a few days during our first cold spell for some fun in the snow and our deliveries were also delayed. However we have received the backlog very quickly and we are back to full speed.
Over the years we have made lots of gorgeous jumper keepsake bears and cushions, and even keepsakes from favourite coats, scarves and hats. We made a gorgeous bear from this favourite winter wool coat. We used the silk lining for the ears and the cuffs and buttons were all incorporated. The very smart RAF Cadet jumper keepsake bear was one of our favourites (although we find it difficult to pick one). We made a copy and he always receives a lot of attention at the fairs we attend. We added the lapels and the original sits proudly on the bookcase of its owner. For the car motif raincoat bear we used the green fleece lining to add colour and created a badge from the name label inside the coat to add to the front.
The gorgeous small bear group was made for a customers grandchildren. She wanted as much of the clothing that she had sent us to be used. We added the labels and linings and created six small adorable keepsake bears, each holding very special family memories. The grey jumper keepsake was created into a large bear as a special memory of a much loved grandfather. The memory bears are always an honour to make and we are so happy to hear from customers who have told us the comfort they can bring.
We also love incorporating jumpers into cushions. They add a lovely softness and texture to the keepsake cushions. Whether added to the design on the front or as a lovely cosy backing. The fleeces, scarves and wool hats also add a wonderful texture. The jumpers and cardigans often have a ribbing or the coloured stripe of the school colours which we always try to incorporate into the design.
This weekend we got cosy by the fire with hot chocolate in hand, as the ‘Mini Beast’ took hold. We really enjoyed watching the Six Nations and are delighted for the Irish! However we all have links to England, Wales, Scotland and Italy so sometimes find it hard to know who to support! The World Cup will be even more difficult as we family in Australia! We have always loved receiving sports kit to create a bear, cushion or ball keepsake. The rugby jumper keepsakes are no exception. Our first rugby jumper keepsake was one we will never forget. The keepsake was created from an old Lions Team rugby top which was worn on tour in the 1970’s. Since then we have made a host of keepsakes for a host of teams. Even as a mascot for an international tour.
Friends since their first children were born, Pru and Kathy are two mums whose children are now at secondary school. As a special keepsake Pru made each of her children a teddy bear out of their old school Blazers. Kathy loved the concept so they joined forces and Blazer Bear. was born. Find out more
