I am a student in year 11 at Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School. This week I spent a few days completing work experience at the Blazer Bear workshop!
Before starting, I had no idea about the sort of implications involved with running a business. During my time there, I learnt a lot about the intimate details that I didn’t realise were so important in the manufacturing of the keepsake bears. It was so interesting to see the entire process from start to finish, as well as learning about the admin and management side of things. I particularly enjoyed dressing the bears, cleaning and labelling them so they were ready to be sent off.
Pru talked me through every feature of the company. This involved the early stages; such as advertising and invoicing, as well as the most vital part (making the bears) and finally, sending the finished product to its new owner.
Overall I had a really fun time at Blazer Bear and I found the whole experience extremely rewarding. I definitely feel as if I learnt a lot about how much time and effort is put into all aspects involved within the business. I will certainly be giving Pru and Kathy some of my old TWGGS uniform to make up a bear for me as my own keepsake! I am very grateful to Pru and Kathy for letting me be a part of the Blazer Bear workshop.

Friends since their first children were born, Pru and Kathy are two mums whose children are now at secondary school. As a special keepsake Pru made each of her children a teddy bear out of their old school Blazers. Kathy loved the concept so they joined forces and Blazer Bear. was born. Find out more
