Another busy week at Blazer Bear where we have been busy making our handmade teddy bears out of a variety of different school uniforms, sporting clubs and even a cub uniform from the 1970s.
We had a lovely time at the well attended craft fair ‘Handmade With Love’ at the Trinity Arts Centre in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday. The fair was brilliantly organised with a range of lovely stalls. Big thanks to Jo and Stephanie from Appleducks, a Tunbridge Wells based events’ company, who did a superb job! The Christmas fair in November is worth putting in your diaries!
Pride of place on our stall was the handsome ‘Tunbridge Wells Football Club Blazer Bear’. To mark the fantastic achievement of our local football club reaching the FA Vase final at Wembley (May 4th), we made a Blazer Bear for them out of one of their shirts. Being a polyster nylon the fabric was slippery to work with but we got there and are pleased with how he reflects the original shirt. This bespoke, handmade bear deservedly received a lot of attention. It is wonderful to hear that so many people are going to Wembley to support the team – we’ve bought our tickets! On Thursday we presented the club with their Blazer Bear. The Chairman and all the players were impressed with their new addition to the club – here he is sitting next to the Kent Senior Trophy they won on Sunday.
Carrying on with a sporting theme to our Bears – we have done a number of Rugby Blazer Bears, which are great rugby memorabilia. Dear to us will always be the very first rugby Blazer Bear we made around this time last year; our ex British Lions’ Player Bear. His wife was looking for a unique birthday present and decided she couldn’t get anything more unique than a bear out of an old shirt!!
Since then we have done a Wasps Blazer Bear, a number for different rugby clubs and many boys like to have bears made from their prep school rugby shirts. We also have added the owners team position on the back of many of the bears. One of our favourites is this lovely pink and black one from Brambletye School in West Sussex, our New Beacon Rugby Bear and the Eastbourne College Bear.
The cricket season is just starting – wonder how many cricket Blazer Bears we will make ?
Friends since their first children were born, Pru and Kathy are two mums whose children are now at secondary school. As a special keepsake Pru made each of her children a teddy bear out of their old school Blazers. Kathy loved the concept so they joined forces and Blazer Bear. was born. Find out more
Whether it be a blazer, school uniform, rugby shirts, precious clothing babygros, the list is endless. Everything is lovingly handcrafted entirely from what you give us. If it is a group school order you are after, we can often source the fabrics and even incorporate a school emblem Find out
