Handmade Teddy Bears make wonderful unique gifts and can be treasured for years to come. Here at Blazer Bear we have had a great week making a number of Handmade Teddy Bears out of many uniforms and different memorable items of clothing.
The week began with making two handmade teddy bears out of 2 World War II jackets as a special keepsake for a granddaughter and grandson. The fabric from these jackets was challenging to work with but the resulting bears we were delighted with. Each bear was made extra special with the inclusion of some precious ribbon from his wife’s wedding bouquet stitched loosely behind the ear. I was stunned when my friend asked me if I had started my Christmas shopping yet!! Apparently there are only 85 days left. My first response was to almost laugh, amused at how ridiculous this was…and then I remember how every year I never having enough time. I end up madly searching the Internet, placing orders, crossing my fingers things will arrive in time and wishing I had been more organised. For one or two days of the year it is amazing the time and effort involved.
Our first Michaelmas Fair at Mayfield was September 25th and there was a huge turnout. I could hear customers talking about the fact they had started their Christmas shopping and comparing notes. As the long summer holidays draw to a close, many people both parents and children alike will be feeling anxious as the beginning of a new academic year approaches. Here at Blazer Bear, although we have managed to get away and have enjoyed our time off we have loved making some fantastic memorable keepsake bears for many July school leavers, whether it be Primary school or Secondary school.
All the very best for the many students sitting important exams this year; whether it be the eleven plus, common entrance, GSCEs, As levels, A2s and university exams to name but a few. We were over the moon to be runners up in Country Homes and Interiors Country Business Awards!! We were also offered a place on The School for Creative Startups which is run by a former Dragons Den judge. We are featured in October’s editon which is out now and have been delighted with the response. With the Christmas Fair season already upon us we are looking forward to linking with all our new customers and schools. Friends since their first children were born, Pru and Kathy are two mums whose children are now at secondary school.
