We have just spent a fantastic week in Thurslestone, Devon with 3 families including lots of teenagers!! It was Britain at it’s best. We love spending a week in Britain every summer but I was worried about the weather, whether the kids would get bored, the drive etc etc. The weather was great, the teenagers loved the beach and the drive was traffic free…I know…lucky!
We were staying in a friend’s house, which was 1 minute’s walk to Thurlestone beach and easy reach to others like Bantham Bay and Hope Cove. We played rounder’s on the beach, which was hotly contested, but the adults lost! I also have a sprained leg having raced to first post to avoid being stumped out by my goddaughter. We also boogey boarded, had fish and chips and wine at sunset and even tried to do some star spotting. Apparently … Read more of this post
A Unique Gift for Prince George?
The eagerly awaited birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate and Williams first child finally came on July 22nd with the arrival of Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. The couple were clearly delighted and like any new parents probably slightly apprehensive about taking their precious bundle home!
The birth of any child is always a very special time. Although at the time the sleepless nights and endless feeding can be exhausting, looking back it seems no time ago that my own babies were tiny bundles. I look at my three 15 year olds and 17 year old and think ‘when did they suddenly grow up – when did that happen?!’

We were really lucky this weekend, to be invited to spend a day on the Thames on a friends boat. It was a beautiful sunny day and we set off near Chertsey where the boat moored to pick us up after a rather stressful M25 journey. Literally the moment I stepped onto the boat I felt myself relax and sat with a wisteria laden bridge behind me ready to set off, glass of wine in hand.
There were 14 of us and our plan was to travel via Hampton Court Palace to the Albany Pub for lunch and back again. We had 3 locks to negotiate and plenty of time on our hands. The kids loved it! They were hands on with the moorings and lock negotiation and enjoyed steering the boat under the watchful eye of our friend, an experienced sailor.
It was amazing to see river life from … Read more of this post
This is turning out to be another fantastic summer of sport!
First the Lions win in Australia! A fantastic match, which we watched on holiday in Portugal. It started off with a few gathered around the television but by the time the final whistle was blown, a crowd of rugby loving fans were cheering and celebrating. The Lions tour is a real even and last year we built a bear for a formed British Lions player from his shirts. It was a special and unique gift from his wife to celebrate his birthday and successes with the Lions in the fantastic tours in the 1970’s! We even stitched his number to the back…no 7!
We then raced back from the airport from our week’s holiday with Radio 5 Live giving us fantastic coverage of Murray in the final! We got back and all sat glued to the last set. … Read more of this post
